The Wedge delivers on its reputation. On this afternoon, a south swell stacked and launched off the Newport Beach jetty with the kind of raw force that stops you mid-stride — a wall of whitewater exploding upward against dark volcanic rock, spray tearing sideways in the wind. The camera caught it at the peak of impact, the chaos of water rendered in sharp monochromatic contrast.
