The ocean, the land, and the space between them have shaped my life for over five decades.
As a lifelong surfer and waterman, I’ve spent my life reading tides, chasing light, and listening to the rhythms of nature. My images reflect not just what I see — but how it feels to be in it.
I began by photographing moments for memory. Now, I photograph to create mood — images that evoke presence, reflection, and connection to place.
Surf Life Images is the expression of that evolution: rooted in Costa Rica, drawn from California, and shaped by a lifetime of being immersed in coastal life.
This work isn’t about spectacle. It’s not about the tallest mountain or the biggest wave.
It’s about the moment just before — the stillness, the glow, the memory you didn’t know you had until you saw it on a wall.
Surf Life Images is more than a collection. It’s a perspective.
A way of seeing shaped by 50 years in the water, close to the land, and tuned into the in-between.
