The Elder
On the Caribbean side of Panama, in a small coastal town where dirt roads lead to the sea and few outsiders ever pass through, this man watched four surfers carry boards he had probably never seen before. He stepped onto his porch and looked out — unhurried, unimpressed, deeply present.
